Rachel James
Rachel Qualified from Cambridge in 1999. Rachel worked in general practice in rural Lincolnshire for 4.5 years during which time she gained her certificate in medicine and found her love of cardiology. She moved to Liverpool and completed a residency in Cardiology and gained specialist status in 2008. After a period in referral practice she then moved to Nottingham University where she joined the new vet school as an associate professor in Cardiology. After a very happy 5 years Rachel set up James Specialist Veterinary Cardiology; initially this was a peripatetic cardiology referral service but has now grown to a large referral practice offering not only a bespoke peripatetic service including home visits but also a brand new referral hospital practice. Rachel is a well known speaker and her research interests are focused on treatment and management of heart failure in both cats and dogs. Outside work Rachel enjoys spending time with her large family and menagerie of dogs, horses and cats.
