Dr Maciej Parys graduated from University of Warmia and Mazury Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Olsztyn, Poland, in 2009. Subsequently after a year in small animal practice he moved to Michigan State University to pursue PhD in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology. He moved to University of Edinburgh vet school in 2016 where he started his research group studying novel ways of treating and diagnosing cancer in companion animals. In 2022, he founded a University of Edinburgh spin-out company, CanCan Diagnostics, which is commercializing the pioneering liquid biopsy test for aid-in-diagnosis and minimal residual disease monitoring in dogs.''
