James graduated from RVC in 2002 and worked as a farm vet in mixed practice until 2018. He sat as a BVA officer from 2019-2022 and now works part time at Nottingham University, as well as holding NED positions for Animal Health and Welfare Board for England, Red Tractor, CHECS and TB partnership. He was awarded fellowship of the RCVS in 2022 for meritorious contribution to the profession, and has chaired Vetlife since 2023. His interest in mental health challenges comes from his lived experience, as well as a passion in supporting others.'
