Mild cases of acute pancreatitis can have a good prognosis with timely treatment, but severe cases can lead to organ failure and be associated with a higher mortality rate. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is essential to reduce the risk of mortality and long-term complications. In this presentation we will discuss underlying causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options for acute pancreatitis in the dog. Key risk factors including high-fat diets, obesity and co-morbidities will be discussed. We will also discuss the various diagnostic testing options for pancreatitis including blood markers and imaging.
